Compassionate End-of-Life Care for Your Pet

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never something you have to do alone. At Golf Rose Animal Hospital, we are here to support you through every step of this journey.

Understanding Quality of Life

Knowing when it’s time to say goodbye is never easy. Our team will help you evaluate your pet’s quality of life with honesty and compassion. Although they can’t tell us with words, our pets often show other signs that their life journey is coming to an end. If you answer yes to any of the questions below, it may be time for a quality-of-life consultation.

  • Is your pet in persistent pain that is no longer manageable?
  • Are they having difficulty eating, drinking, or maintaining weight?
  • Has their behavior changed at all, or have they lost interest in favorite activities or interactions?
  • Do they have trouble standing, walking, or controlling bodily functions?

We offer quality of life consultations to help guide you and your family. Together, we can assess your pet’s comfort, dignity, and happiness, and explore all available options—whether that’s palliative care or humane euthanasia.

Ohio State University offers a variety of resources to assess your pet’s quality of life and support for after the death of your pet. You can access them here: https://vmc.vet.osu.edu/services/honoring-the-bond

Euthanasia Services

When the time comes, we offer in-hospital euthanasia in a peaceful, private setting where you can be with your pet during their final moments. Our veterinary team is here to make the process as gentle and stress-free as possible.

If you prefer in-home euthanasia, we are happy to provide referrals to trusted mobile veterinary services in our area. These partners specialize in at-home end-of-life care, allowing your pet to pass in the comfort of their familiar surroundings.

One partner we refer to frequently is Lap of Love. You can learn more about their services here: https://www.lapoflove.com/

Aftercare and Memorial Options

We offer a variety of options for handling your pet’s remains, including:

  • Private cremation with ashes returned
  • Communal cremation
  • Home burial guidance (where permitted)
  • Memorial keepsakes and paw prints are also available upon request.

Our team will walk you through these options with sensitivity and help you make the choice that feels right for you and your family. Golf Rose is partnered with Trusted Journey for cremation and memorial keepsakes. You can view urn and keepsakes here: https://www.trustedjourney.com/
